Selecting Menus and Functions

NOTE:
Functions, icons , menu items etc. which are not available are greyed out.

SPCat users are provided with various methods to move around inside the menu structure or to perform functions from the screen pages.

The following methods are possible:

Mouse pointer: To execute a function, move the mouse pointer to the required item name, icon, command button or the respective input field and click on it. See Chapter Mouse.

Keyboard: Use the keyboard to make entries which require the input of characters, e.g. for searching and editing addresses. See Chapter Keyboard.

Hotkeys: Hotkeys are identified by underlined letters which appear in the titles of menu items. Perform the relevant action via the keyboard as follows:

Use the ALT key to switch on and off the hotkey feature, i.e. toggle the function of keys between «letters» and hotkeys and vice versa.

Press the key for the desired letter.

Shortcuts: Shortcuts are key combinations which are used for quick access to frequently used functions. Perform the relevant action via the keyboard as follows:

Press the first key (in general, it is the CTRL key) and keep it pressed.

Press the second key.

Besides the entry of characters, there are the following parameter fields:

 

	Checkbox. Choose between either Yes (with tick) or No (without tick) in a checkbox:   Press the space bar.   Click the checkbox with the mouse.
	Radio buttons. Allow only one selection. Select the desired button (other buttons will be de-select):   Press the space bar.   Click the button with the mouse.
	Drop-down list. Select the desired item as follows:   Clicking on the item causes the list to drop down from that position and be displayed.   Move the mouse pointer on the desired item and click on it. The selected item is highlighted.
	Spinner. Increase and reduce the value by one of the following ways:   Click on the Up and Down button of the spinner to increase and decrease the value by one step.   Click on the entry field of the spinner and enter directly the desired value.   Click on the entry field of the spinner and use the cursor keys to increase and decrease the value by one step.
